Organic Homemade Ketchup

I’m always searching for alternatives to substitute industrialized products and to make everything homemade-style. I keep everything simple, cost-effective and healthy. This recipe really surprised me, the outcome was much better than I expected. This is a raw, sugar-free, oil-free homemade ketchup made with organic tomatoes. It has na incredible flavor, tastes exactly like the conventional one. It yelds a lot, therefore, it is cheap. It's ready in a few minutes. I'm so happy to share this with you all!

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 large organic tomato, very ripe
  • 1/2 cup sun dried tomatoes
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • cayenne pepper, to taste (optional)
  • 4 pitted dates
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • juice of 1 lime

DIRECTIONS

Wash the tomato thoroughly, dry it with paper towel and chop it in big chunks. Use an organic tomato for this recipe. It's not necessary to peel it or remove the seeds. Put the tomato into the blender and then add the other ingredients, sun dried tomatoes, garlic and lime juice.

Blend thoroughly until the consistency is similar to ketchup. Add salt and pepper to taste and blend a little more for them to get mixed.

If you want a spicier ketchup, add more chili to taste. The cayenne pepper used is wonderful, it is very hot and it is enough to give a spicy taste to the ketchup. Blend thoroughly until the consistency is similar to ketchup. Add salt and pepper to taste and blend a little more for them to get mixed. You can use peppers or other spices as per your personal taste.
