Guacamole is a delicious recipe originated in Mexico based on avocado and spices. It's very simple and fast to make. It is perfect to serve with nachos, tortillas, chips, toast and crackers, to fill sandwiches, mixed with fresh colorful vegetables and also goes really well with salads.
- 1 big ripe avocado
- 1/2 small onion chopped
- 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
- juice of 1/2 lime
- cilantro as your taste (if you don't like cilantro, use parsley)
- salt to taste
DIRECTIONS
Finely chop the onion, garlic and cilantro. Into a bowl, mash coarsely the avocado with a fork. Add the other ingredientes mixing them gently. Store in the fridge into a glass container with a lid and serve when cold as you wish. Remember that you can also add finely chopped tomatões, chilli peppers or any other spice you like.
I am not that crazy about cilantro. I made guacamole before without it and it was fine. On the other hand, after I tried and loved the original guacamole at a Mexican restaurant, I found it that cilantro is responsable for that special taste of guacamole. Since then I've been using cilantro in small quantities and love it.
